Supply Chain Manager

Full-Time, Permanent, Competitive Salary

Garador Limited, a leading UK manufacturing company based in Yeovil, are looking to recruit an experienced Supply Chain Manager to join their team.  You will hold a key, senior role within the commercial team, working closely with the manufacturing and maintenance functions.

You will be instrumental in Managing the supply chain and developing the business’ approach to more detailed schedules throughout the manufacturing process, overseeing the purchasing function to identify material constraints and will modify plans so that production plans can be achieved to fulfil customer orders.  Analysis will be continuously undertaken to identify and report on any imbalances between capacity and demand, down-time and OEE etc. and to make recommendations for capex or recruitment.  Your will also be key in the development of a Sales & Operational Planning Methodology and be ‘Hands on’ in your day-to-day role.

Work closely with Production Supervisors, Maintenance Teams, and the Commercial departments.  To oversee the stock management, procurement, and despatch functions. 

 

Main areas of responsibility:

  • To manage the day-to-day planning / scheduling of manufacture within the plant and produce an optimal and achievable manufacturing plan for the business
  • To provide accurate forecasts of manufacturing capacity and inventory requirements to meet anticipated sales demands
  • Working closely with Production Supervisors and Maintenance to ensure capacity meets both short-term demand and long-term strategy
  • Monitoring daily output with manufacturing managers, responding to problems and communicating any changes to both the commercial and manufacturing teams
  • Improving planning processes to improve both on time delivery and total manufacturing costs
  • Oversee all Raw Materials purchasing and stock control activities and processes within the business – carry out analysis/adjustments to facilitate staff fulfilling their functions
  • Supervise and direct the work of the Procurement Co-ordinator 
  • The review and revision of bought-in stock, i.e. usage, lead times, re-order schedules 
  • Review of supplier lead times/pricing with the Procurement Co-ordinator– identify efficiencies, savings, etc. and set up supplier changes as appropriate
  • Supplier audits and escalation through the quality system as needed
  • Initiate and follow-through quality and non-conformance issues relating to suppliers
  • Manage reporting processes, including critical parts monitoring, and identify and implement improvements on an ongoing basis
  • Analysis and reporting of results relating to plant efficiencies (e.g. Downtime etc.)
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Manager for scheduling of essential planned maintenance.  
  • Support the Coordination of stock-checks/audits 
  • Take overall responsibility for the Despatch function, working closely with the team to identify areas of opportunity to increase customer satisfaction and internal communications.
  • Other activity/projects as assigned by your manager/senior management team

The person

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and need to have operated in a similar capacity and previous Supply Chain Management experience is essential, preferably within a complex, high-volume manufacturing environment. It is important that you are knowledgeable of master production scheduling, ERP systems, works orders and inventory management. A good understanding of S&OP, capacity planning and modelling is very desirable. In addition, you will need to possess excellent IT skills and be fully competent in the use of Microsoft Office products.

You are expected to work with the minimum of supervision and work well to your own initiative, demonstrating a positive and proactive work ethic and operating flexibly to meet the changing demands of the business. You will need to be an articulate communicator with exceptional influencing skills at all levels of the business, with a natural desire for continuous improvement. Some experience of Lean manufacturing, including Kanban and Vendor Managed Inventory would be advantageous.

Semi-Skilled Setter Operator

Yeovil, 3 month contract, £13.30 per hour

Open position

We are currently seeking a Semi-Skilled Setter Operator to join our busy Production department on a Temporary 3-month contract at our Yeovil facility.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience of a similar assembly/factory environment.
  • Ideally have an engineering, mechanical and/or manufacturing background.
  • Be able to work efficiently to high quality and health & safety standards.
  • Work well within a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Have a practical, conscientious and positive approach to work.
  • Be capable of carrying out a reasonable level of manual handling activity in an active role.
  • Able to work alone or as part of a team.
  • A quick learner who is adaptable to different processes.
  • Working a 36 hour, five day week, Monday to Friday. Shift working may be required.

Contract length: 3 months
